Care home abusers caught on camera

Staff at a care home given the government’s seal of approval late last year have been exposed abusing residents.

“Carers” at the Old Deanery in Essex were caught on camera physically and mentally abusing many of their elderly wards.

In response to the BBC Panorama documentary broadcast last night owner Anglia Retirement Homes just said it had asked a law firm to look into the abuse.

The home was banned from taking in more people in 2012 by the council and the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

But late last year — while undercover Panorama investigators were filming — CQC inspectors declared it “fit for purpose.”
