FORMER Cabinet minister Yvette Cooper said yesterday that a death threat has been issued against her family, less than a week after the murder of fellow Labour MP Jo Cox.
Ms Cooper received the distressing message on Tuesday afternoon, after it was posted on social media website Twitter from an account in the name of Mark Creighton.
After complaining about being sent pro-EU “propaganda” emails, Mr Creighton added: “Please stop or I will kill your kids and grandkids.”
The account was reportedly removed after the MP for Normanton, Pontefract and Castleford complained about it to the website’s administrators and the police.
Ms Cooper told her followers that the authorities were “on the case,” adding: “But this is for all of us. Time to stop the hatred.”
Security measures around MPs have been increased following Ms Cox’s shooting and stabbing near her constituency office in Birstall, West Yorkshire.
