ISRAELI settlers shot and killed a Palestinian farmer yesterday as he worked on his land in the West Bank.
Israelis from the illegal Yash Kod settlement in the north of the West Bank entered Palestinians’ fields near Qusra and attacked 48-year-old Mahmoud Ahmad Zaal Odeh, a Palestinian official who monitors settlements told the Ma’an news agency.
Local residents told Ma’an that Mr Odeh tried to stop the settlers from entering his land and they shot him in the chest.
The settlers shot at another man, hitting his leg.
Israeli occupation forces surrounded and moved into the village shortly after the settlers’ murderous rampage to protect the killers.
They also dragged off Mr Odeh’s son to a military base and appear to have taken Mr Odeh’s body.
As is routine, the Israeli occupiers blamed the Palestinians for the killing. An army spokesperson claimed that 20 Israeli civilians were set upon by stone-throwing Palestinians.
UN records show that there was a sharp increase in settler attacks on Palestinians in the first half of 2017, with 89 by August, almost double last year’s figure.
