ANTI-FASCISTS will demonstrate today against racists’ plans to invade Darlington.
Teesside People’s Assembly and Unite Against Fascism (UAF) are mobilising to oppose Bishop Auckland Against Islam’s (BAAI) unwelcome demo.
UAF said in a statement: “The north-east has a well-deserved reputation for solidarity and social cohesion. We pride ourselves on the diversity of our communities and our mixed heritages.
“We are committed to supporting a vibrant, peaceful, multicultural and multifaith counter-demonstration involving people from the widest possible backgrounds.
“The aim of our protest is be to send out clear and simple message: BAAI is not wanted in Darlington, the north-east or anywhere else. We must all stand together in unity in the face of Islamophobia, anti-semitism and all forms of racism and fascism.”
Anti-fascists will assemble in Darlington Market Place at noon.
