19-year-old being questioned about student's murder

A MAN was arrested yesterday in connection with the murder of a Saudi Arabian student in Essex.

Nahid Almanea, an English language student at the local university, was found stabbed to death on a Colchester footpath.

Police are questioning a 19-year-old man, who was arrested for a separate attack on a female jogger.

It was reported that the woman was grabbed on the evening of June 19 but was able to fight him off and contact the police.

It has raised fears that the attacks could be the work of a serial offender.

Essex police have also released a 52-year-old man previously under investigation for the murder. He was “positively eliminated from inquiries.”
