European Elections: RMT will keep up left challenge

Transport union RMT vowed to keep up its left-wing fight for an EU referendum.

Acting general secretary Mick Cash said the left’s fight against Britain’s EU membership is, unlike Ukip’s, pro-public service, pro-worker, anti-austerity and anti-privatisation.

He added: “Those who would concede this ground to Ukip and the Tory right are ignoring the fact that there has always been a militant, left stance against the pro-business, neoliberal and anti-worker EU project that was led by Tony Benn and Bob Crow.”
