Today’s match against New Zealand falls on International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Girls and captain Alun Wyn Jones, Rhys Webb, Leigh Halfpenny and Scott Williams all highlighted the White Ribbon campaign by posing with banners calling for an end to men’s violence against women.
Julian McDonald of Unison’s South Wales Police and justice branch said: “As emergency service workers, Unison members working for South Wales Police will often be the first point of contact and the first on the scene when a woman is attacked.
“We need to take the strongest possible stand and force a cultural change. Recruiting the help of Welsh rugby’s household names sends a powerful message throughout the fan base.”
Unison police and justice members have also secured Cardiff Blues’ and Ospreys’ support for the White Ribbon campaign.
