Construction workers demand action on cost-of-living crisis

CONSTRUCTION workers called on Labour yesterday to push progressive policies to tackle “the worst cost of living crisis in living memory.”

Leading the debate on Labour support Ucatt’s Scotland branch delegate Ritchie Haldane declared: “Financial hardship impacts dramtically on people’s hardship and wellbeing.

“We support the campaign for the living wage. But the living wage is merely a safety net. What we need is a decent wage across the industry.”

Delegates called on the union to work with Labour to produce a full list of the party’s policies and intentions that will benefit Ucatt membership before next May’s general election.
