THERESA MAY was branded “the artful dodger” by GMB leader Tim Roache yesterday.
In his keynote address to his union’s congress, Mr Roache poured scorn on the Tory pledge to support new workplace rights.
“Forgive my scepticism when Theresa May says she’s going to roll out the greatest expansion of workers’ rights of any Tory government — it wouldn’t be bloody hard would it?” he chuckled.
“Theresa May, the artful dodger who dodges every key question, if she hasn’t dodged the debate altogether.
“This from a Prime Minister who wants to nick your house to pay for care costs if you get dementia.”
Mr Roache heaped praise on Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn’s manifesto, saying it offered solid commitments on workers’ rights, ending the public-sector “pay pinch” and tackling insecure work.
“I’m sick of hearing that the Labour manifesto is too radical or left wing … it’s bloody fair play.”
