FEES for employment tribunals need to be “abolished or radically reduced,” Lord Falconer told the Star at the weekend, writes Conrad Landin.

In an exclusive interview, the shadow justice secretary said: “It’s key that employees complaining about their treatment at work should not have to pay any material fee.”

But he said Labour would not return the probation service to public hands until contracts with privateers expired — unless there were break clauses in the deals.

And Lord Falconer revealed that he had discussed the shadow cabinet with former boss Tony Blair — but was “not going to tell” what the ex-prime minister said.
