This documentary tells a previously untold story of apartheid's fall and the mysterious French businessman - aka "Monsieur Jacques" - who purportedly was instrumental in Nelson Mandela's release from jail.

He was the Algerian-born Jean-Yves Ollivier who in the 1980s linked up with political leaders in the region sharing his dream of regional peace and the end of racial discrimination in South Africa.

To some he was a sanctions-buster or a French spy. For others, such as Winnie Mandela and Mozambique's former president Joaquin Chissano, he was a trusted friend and a man of bold vision.

As an account of his astute political manoeuvring in countries like Angola and Mozambique, Plot For Peace certainly has interest for anyone engaged by the liberation struggle in southern Africa and the complex history emerging from that difficult period today.
