FOOTBALL: Hull have completed the permanent signing of Tottenham midfielder Jake Livermore.

The 24-year-old, who spent last season on loan at the KC Stadium, has signed for an undisclosed fee which could rise to £8 million.

“I made my feelings known that I wanted to come here permanently and once the two clubs had agreed the fee, it was very straightforward,” said Livermore.

RUGBY: Former Scotland fly-half Dan Parks has announced his retirement from rugby.

Parks won 67 caps during an eight-year international career that ended when he stepped down from Test rugby during the 2012 six Nations Championship.

“I feel incredibly fortunate to have been able to play a sport which I love for over 11 years as a professional,” he said.

TENNIS: Five-time Wimbledon champion Venus Williams saw off the brave challenge of Kurumi Nara to secure a place in the third round for the first time since 2011.

Williams, the 30th seed, won 7-6 (7/4) 6-1 in just over an hour and 30 minutes.
