London Mayor Boris Johnson faced questions over his conduct yesterday after a total meltdown during angry London Assembly exchanges on plans to slash youth and education budgets by 90 per cent.
Tory "Three Jobs" Johnson lost control as Labour Assembly Member Andrew Dismore confronted him during mayor's questions with a leaked Greater London Authority report projecting a funding drop from £22.6 million to £2.3m within two years.
Mr Johnson is considered a shoo-in as Uxbridge MP at the general election and is thought to have his eye on David Cameron's job as party leader.
But his performance at City Hall was anything but prime ministerial - and a far cry from his carefully crafted "friendly buffoon" image.
The bad-tempered mayor hit the nasty button when confronted with the document, shouting: "We've done more for young people in this city than your party ever did!"
Ranting over Mr Dismore's reply of "temper, temper" the mayor raged: "You should take that document and stick it up your..."
Following the exchange, the Labour AM said: "I appear to have touched a raw nerve.
"The mayor has been found out and it is disgraceful that, despite being repeatedly asked to do so, he was not prepared to rule out such draconian cuts which will have such serious consequences for London's young people."
Mr Dismore warned that Londoners were being hoodwinked into funding the cuts via a charity drive run by Mr Johnson's close ally the Evening Standard newspaper.
"I bet when the Standard started the campaign, they did not know of the mayor's plan to use its readers' charitable donations in such an underhand way to plug the gaps," said Mr Dismore.
