Hillsborough families pay tribute at inquest

Victims' relatives tell of their grief almost 25 years on

Hillsborough victims’ families paid tributes to their loved ones and described life after the tragedy to an inquest panel yesterday.

In a new inquiry into the stadium disaster, sons, daughters and parents of some of the 96 Liverpool fans killed spoke of “witnessing hell” before their eyes and feeling “hurt and cheated.”

“The very last words I said to my father were: ‘You will be okay’,” said George Baron, whose father George was the eldest victim of the disaster.

“How wrong I was.”

The jury also heard from the family of Gary Harrison, whose son Paul signed for Liverpool in 2003.

Families of the Hillsborough victims will mark the 25th anniversary of the tragedy on April 15.
