Andy Burnham: 3 million waiting patients show Tories and Lib Dems 'simply can't be trusted with the NHS'

Labour shadow health secretary calls PM David Cameron on his assertion that waiting lists would a test of his competence on the National Health Service

The fact that NHS waiting lists have hit the three million mark shows the coalition cannot be trusted with Britain’s health service Labour said yesterday.

NHS data released yesterday showed that waiting lists had hit the unwelcome milestone for the first time in six years.

Labour shadow health secretary Andy Burnham said: “David Cameron said that NHS waiting lists would be the test of his running of the NHS.

“With the news that it has hit a six-year high and with three million patients waiting, people will conclude that he simply can’t be trusted with the NHS.

“Millions of people, up and down the country, waiting in pain and discomfort will today be justified in wondering why Mr Cameron threw the NHS into the chaos of a reorganisation when nobody voted for it.”
