Police rescued gnomes stolen from Scottish homes

Lawn ornaments make their way to their Aberdeenshire homes after police raid thieves' van

Police rescued dozens of garden gnomes on Thursday from a van after they were stolen from their homes in Scotland.

They believe the 33 gnomes and other garden ornaments found were taken from homes across Aberdeenshire on Wednesday and Thursday.

The haul includes a gnome-sized figure of Oor Wullie, an iconic Scottish cartoon kid whose escapades feature in the Sunday Post — and who is often the subject of police attention as the culprit in boyish pranks.
