Fulham 2 Hull 2

KALEEM AFTAB watches Fulham drive another nail into their coffin as Hull City sits pretty at Craven Cottage

Fulham threw away a two-goal lead at Craven Cottage to leave their chances of avoiding the drop hanging by a thread.

The point will help alleviate any lingering relegation fears that Hull City may have as they look forward to the FA Cup final.

For 75 minutes Fulham were dominant.

The game exploded into life with the introduction of Ashkan Dejagah and Kieran Richardson at half-time.

The Iranian winger started the scoring with a brilliant solo effort on 55 minutes.

Three minutes later it was Richardson’s turn to make an impact, sending in the cross that Fernando Amorebieta headed home.

And then Fulham committed the sin no team who have conceded 77 goals in 35 matches should do — they tried to protect the lead.

Felix Magath argued it was a mental problem that saw Fulham gift Hull a way back into the game.

Nikica Jelavic headed into an empty net after Sascha Riether’s attempted clearance was tipped onto his own bar by David Stockdale.

Hull sniffed blood. Sone Aluko hit the crossbar and when Ahmed Elmohamady saw his shot tipped onto the inside of the post, Shane Long headed past Stockdale with three minutes left.

Magath argued that for Fulham to survive: “We have to win our last two games [against Stoke away and Crystal Palace at home].

“As long as there is a chance we have to take it.”
