Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri was only banned for two Coppa Italia matches yesterday and fined €20,000 (£15,000) for homophobic remarks.

Sarri yelled out: "Faggot" at the end of a cup match on Tuesday night, with opposing manager Roberto Mancini accusing Sarri of aiming the slur at him.

The offence could have warranted a four-month suspension but Sarri has managed to escape heavy punishment for the homophobic comment.

A disciplinary hearing said the ban was for "directing extremely insulting epithets at the coach of the opposing team" but also fined Mancini €5,000 (£3,800) for "taking an intimidating attitude toward the coach of the opposing team, who had insulted him."
