Netanyahu shuns French talks plan

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu welcomed French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault to Israel yesterday by dismissing his proposal for French-sponsored peace negotiations.
Paris is to host an international meeting at the end of the month to discuss advancing the peace process.
However, Mr Netanyahu insisted that direct talks, without preconditions, would be the best way to reach agreement.
