GLASGOW mosque leaders joined police yesterday in urging communities to come together after the murder of local shopkeeper Asad Shah.
Ahmadi Muslim Mr Shah was found beaten outside his corner shop in Shawlands last Thursday and subsequently died as a result of his injuries.
Tanveer Ahmed from Bradford has been charged with his murder, which police described as “religiously prejudiced.”
Ahmadi Muslims are a marginalised group in Pakistan and have been targeted for their beliefs.
In the wake of Mr Shah’s killing and recent terrorist attacks in Brussels and Lahore, Glasgow Central Mosque is to hold an event to encourage unity in the city.
