US SENATE majority leader Mitch McConnell presented the latest draft of the “Trumpcare” Bill to fellow Republicans yesterday in an attempt to win agreement for a vote next week.

With all 48 Democrats unanimously opposed to replacing the Affordable Care Act — or “Obamacare” — Mr McConnell needs the votes of 50 of his 52 senators to pass the Bill.

Dissident Republican Rand Paul has already said he’ll vote No and Maine Senator Susan Collins is expected to do the same.

Ultraconservatives Ted Cruz and Tim Scott have also objected to aspects of the Bill.

In a TV interview aired yesterday, President Donald Trump expressed his impatience with Republican dithering over the legislation.

“I am sitting in the Oval Office with a pen in hand, waiting for our senators to give it to me.”

The legislation is expected to remove health cover from around 20 million people and slash taxes by hundreds of
billions of dollars for the wealthiest.
