Cyclist Laura Trott crashes, but is determined to continue Friends Life Women's Tour; Lewis Hamilton dominates in Spanish GP practice; Speculation mounts that John McEnroe could coach Andy Murray

CYCLING: Double Olympic track champion Laura Trott crashed heavily on yesterday’s third stage of the Friends Life Women’s Tour and had to go to hospital for precautionary scans but is determined to continue in the race.

Whether Trott takes part depends on her recovery following a crash on the 80.5-kilometre route from Felixstowe to Clacton-on-Sea.

FORMULA ONE: Lewis Hamilton again proved a class above the rest and is on course to win his first Spanish Grand Prix tomorrow after dominating practice, with a time of 1 minute 25.524 seconds.

Hamilton finished the day at Barcelona’s Circuit de Catalunya almost half a second quicker than Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg, with the rest trailing well behind.

TENNIS: Judy Murray believes her son Andy and John McEnroe could be a perfect match as speculation mounts that the world number eight might turn to the seven-times grand slam winner to be his new coach.

McEnroe has indicated he would be interested in taking on the Scot while Murray himself has conceded he could not afford to ignore one of the game’s greats.
