Bastia yesterday handed a stadium ban to a supporter in relation to the alleged racist abuse aimed at Nice striker Mario Balotelli.
Former Manchester City and Liverpool forward Balotelli was the subject of “monkey noises” throughout Friday’s 1-1 Ligue 1 draw in Corsica.
The French Football League (LFP) subsequently announced an investigation into the allegations and Bastia launched an appeal for fans to come forward.
And yesterday Bastia confirmed they had banned one of their supporters from Stade Armand-Cesari after he made himself known.
“Acknowledging he was responsible for the incriminating chants, the man in his 40s, who has for many years been a regular in the east stand, has been notified by SCB of the deactivation of his season ticket along with a general ban from the Stade de Furiani,” the club said.
