Kim Jong Un's hair, Corrie on cuts, Brown as MP

Diplomacy: North Korea's displeasure at a poster in a hair salon that poked fun at their leader's distinctive hairstyle has reached the corridors of power in Whitehall.

The Foreign Office confirmed yesterday it had received a letter from the North Korean embassy earlier this week complaining about the picture of Kim Jong Un that was displayed in a London salon's window emblazoned with the words "Bad Hair Day?"

Austerity: Craig Charles was among Coronation Street stars to back a campaign to stop Con-Dem attacks on disabled people.

Mr Charles and other actors held up Disabled People Against Cuts (DPAC) postcards yesterday demanding the government keeps the independent living fund open.

DPAC member Paddy Murphy said: "At an annual cost of just over £350m, this isn't a hugely expensive fund to run. Users receive an average of just £337 a week."

Politics: Former Labour prime minister Gordon Brown "will remain" an MP, his office said yesterday in response to speculation that he could stand down in 2015.

Mr Brown has described himself as an "ex-politician" and is rarely seen in Parliament but his spokesman said there were "no facts" in the latest article speculating over his future in the New Statesman.
