THE Foreign Office recognised yesterday large-scale human rights violations in Yemen — even as British arms fuelled the country’s bloody civil war.

In its annual review of human rights around the world, the department said that the conflict had had a “significant impact” on the civilian population.

The report claims that “human rights remain at the heart of British foreign policy.”

But Amnesty International UK said that was “difficult to accept” in a year in which the government “largely looked the other way as Saudi Arabia locked up bloggers and executed dissidents.
