Whyte in court over club deal

Former Rangers boss released on bail

FORMER Rangers Football Club owner Craig Whyte was released on bail yesterday after appearing at Glasgow Sheriff Court.

He was held in Mexico on Wednesday after a warrant was issued "in connection with involvement in a fraudulent scheme to acquire Rangers FC and alleged offences in contravention of the Companies Act (2006)" by Scottish police.

Four other men appeared in Glasgow Sheriff Court earlier this month charged with fraudulent activity linked to the sale of the club three years ago.

Gary Withey, David Whitehouse, Paul Clark, and David Grier all made no plea or declaration and were also granted bail.
