LOW-PAID council workers will stage a demo on Thursday to protest against bosses’ eye-watering pay rises.
Chief officers at Dorset County Council are due to receive pay package increases of up to £12,000 on their current salaries, which already start at £79,000 a year.
General union Unite’s Bob Lanning said the situation was “disgusting.”
“As usual, there is one law for the bosses and another one for everyone else,” he said.
“Other council employees have had to struggle to get by with a 1 per cent increase for the last two years.
“Staff in the finance department at the council are currently undergoing a restructuring exercise where they have had to sit an exam, give presentations and then be interviewed to retain their current level of pay.
“Unite would like to ask what process senior staff had to go through to get their unprecedented pay rise.”
The demo will take place at County Hall, Colliton Park, Dorchester DT1 1XJ from 8am on Thursday.
