AUSTRALIANS will still have easy access to Britain after Brexit, Boris Johnson said in Sydney yesterday.
The British Foreign Secretary was in Australia for an annual summit with British and Australian ministers that included discussions on a postBrexit bilateral trade deal.
“As we go through the process of leaving the arrangements of the European Union, we are going to widen our horizons and work even more closely,” Mr Johnson said. “We have today reaffirmed our shared goal of concluding a free trade agreement as soon as possible after we leave the EU.”
He promised to maintain the visa regime for Aussies who “get kissed on both cheeks at Heathrow and welcomed to the country.”
But Mr Johnson and Australian counterpart Julie Bishop failed to go into any detail as to what had been discussed.
