CND’s leader urged Scottish peace activists on Saturday to campaign against Nato demands for “collective security” and a 2 per cent levy on EU states to pay for it.
Speaking at a packed Scottish CND conference Opposing Wars of Empire in Glasgow on Saturday, Kate Hudson slammed Nato expansion in Europe and across the world.
Looking ahead to the nuclear alliance’s September summit in Newport, South Wales, she drew particular attention to the EU’s demand for member states to spend at least 2 per cent of GDP on defence.
Ms Hudson said: “The development of ‘collective security’ in the EU simply means Nato is demanding that Europe must spend more on Nato.
“Nato is a global warmonger — and we really need to focus on defeating that.”
Labour MSP Neil Findlay slammed US support for right-wing attempts to destabilise Venezuela after the free and fair election of President Maduro last year.
