A MONTH-LONG campaign of resistance to controversial fracking techniques will be launched in Lancashire tomorrow.
“Rolling Resistance” will be launched by the Reclaim the Power direct action group, with daily events including demonstrations, workshops and exhibitions.
Fracking company Cuadrilla is preparing for drilling at Preston New Road outside the village of Little Plumpton in Lancashire.
Opponents say the process of “fracking” shale deposits by forcing chemical-laden fluids through them to push out gas can pollute water tables and the atmosphere.
Reclaim the Power spokesperson Claire Stephenson said: “What happens at Preston New Road is a litmus test for the future prospects of the whole fracking industry.
“Reclaim the Power aims to stop fracking in its tracks at this flagship site, continue to quake investor confidence in this unproven, risky industry, and support and reinforce the ongoing resistance of local people against fracking in Lancashire.”
