TWO men were targeted in a homophobic attack carried out by children in Liverpool on Saturday, leaving one of the victims with serious injuries.
Three male youths, described as aged between 12 and 15, carried out the attack at 9.20pm.
The victims are both in their thirties, Merseyside Police said.
One victim suffered injuries to his head and neck which, police said were “serious but non-life threatening” while the second suffered a minor hand injury.
Detective Inspector Tara Denn said: “This was an appalling and unprovoked attack on two men simply making their way home and we are working tirelessly to locate those responsible.
“There is absolutely no place for hate crime in society and we know how much of a massive impact it has on victims.”
The attack follows a brutal assault on two lesbian women on a London bus on May 30.
