Osamor gets Labour whip back

LEFT Labour MP Kate Osamor has had the party whip restored three months after she was suspended for remarks about the genocide in Gaza made on Holocaust Memorial Day.

Labour chief whip Alan Campbell confirmed the move and Ms Osamor, who represents Edmonton in north London, said: “I am grateful to the Labour Party for their investigation into my conduct and I accept the outcome in full.

“I want to unreservedly apologise again for my comments.

“I made remarks which were insensitive, inappropriate, and which I apologise for and regret.

“I will continue to reach out to Jewish stakeholders and the community.

“I am committed to ensuring that I don’t fall short of the highest standards.”

Diane Abbott remains suspended from the Labour whip, however.

Labour has been “investigating” a newspaper letter she wrote for more than a year. As things stand, she cannot be a Labour candidate at the next election.
