US sabre-rattling puts Israel's interests ahead of peace

It is against the UN charter to threaten another country. Obama's bullying on Iran follows exactly the same script as that followed by George W Bush did in 2002 when gearing up for an attack on Iraq.

Obama is cynically putting the strategic interests of Israel above those of the US and the rest of the world in order to get money from the Israel lobby for his re-election campaign.

Iran has no nuclear weapons programme. This has been verified by a rigorous inspection programme conducted by the International Atomic Energy Agency.

Those who say they do are telling a pack of lies.

The pressure to attack Iran now comes from a tiny band of fanatics within the Likud Party in Israel and neoconservative lunatics in Washington.

Israel on the other hand does have nuclear weapons, which are subject to no inspection, and it continues to occupy the West Bank in violation of numerous UN security council resolutions.

Most people in both countries and across the world do not want a war.

The majority of people around the world rightly regard the US and Israel as the biggest threat to world peace.

The current spike in the price of oil is being driven by international speculators due to the uncertainty of an attack on Iran.

In effect we are all pay a war tax at the petrol pump due to the war-mongering of Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu.

War with Iran would be madness and must be avoided at all costs.
