I was pleased to see the letter from Gerrard Sables (M Star June 4) and I was particularly gratified that he included the crossword among the things that were good about the paper, as I intend to keep doing them for some time yet (cruciverbalists never retire).
My colleague who likes to attempt my crossword each week asked me about why I wanted to be a crossword compiler in the first place.
She likes to solve crosswords but she could never imagine wanting to compile one. I think that it is just something that I wanted to get into. It also seems to me that crossword compiling is one of the few activities for which Asperger's syndrome is actually an advantage, so I think why not make use of that.
