Wenger closes in on striker Giroud

Wednesday 13 June 2012

FOOTBALL: Arsenal are on the verge of signing Montpellier striker and France international Olivier Giroud for a fee believed to be in the region of £12 million.

Giroud would be Arsene Wenger's second major purchase of the summer, adding to German international Lukas Podolski.

The Gunners manager is believed to want to use Giroud and Podolski in a front three with Robin van Persie.
