Murray wary of master blaster Raonic as he bids to book place in quarter-finals

Sunday 02 September 2012

TENNIS: Milos Raonic stands between Andy Murray and a place in the quarter-finals of the US Open.

Murray, the Olympic singles champion, defeated Feliciano Lopez 7-6 (7-5) 7-6 (7-5) 4-6 7-6 (7-4) in hot conditions to book his place in the fourth round as he continues his quest for a first grand slam title.

Canadian Raonic beat James Blake in straight sets, hitting 29 aces in the process, and Murray is understandly wary of his opponent's fierce serve going into the match.

"He has a huge serve, he's leading the tour in aces this year," Murray said.

"He's a big, strong guy and I just need to bring my return game for the next round."
