Britain is breaking own laws on terrorism
Tuesday 04 September 2012
The Libyan Islamic Fighting Group, which the Home Office calls a terrorist organisation, arms, funds and commands whole brigades of the Free Syrian Army.
The UN says the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group "is an al-Qaida ... affiliate."
The coalition is giving £5 million-worth of "non-lethal practical assistance" to the Free Syrian Army.
Britain's anti-terrorism laws outlaw giving material support to terrorist organisations, so surely by indirectly funding this al-Qaida affiliate the government is breaking the law.
