Benefits can build homes

EmailI welcome Tim Mickleburgh's letter (M Star August 20) about rent caps on landlords, but why not use the millions now going into private landlords pockets via housing benefit for to initiate a programme of social house building?
If this discourages the buy to let market so be it - a home is a human necessity not an investment opportunity.
