Hunger march programme worth a listen

Friday 14 September 2012

I was surprised no previews were given for the excellent Radio 4 programme Things We Forgot to Remember on September 11.

It will be of interest to many readers as it looks at the Jarrow March and earlier hunger marches.

Considerable mention is given to Wal Hannington, Communist Party member and leader of the National Unemployed Workers Movement, along with Special Branch infiltration, police brutality and biased media coverage.

The programme is currently available on the BBC iPlayer and I would strongly urge readers to give it a listen.
