Everton v Newcastle preview: Everton eye summit

Sunday 16 September 2012

FOOTBALL: Everton will look to keep pace with the early league-leaders by getting the better of visitors Newcastle tomorrow night.

A surprising 2-0 reverse at West Brom aside, the Goodison Park outfit have had an encouraging start to the season and victory would see them move to within a point of the summit.

Manager David Moyes has lost Darron Gibson with a thigh strain but should otherwise field a strong side.

Meanwhile Newcastle's Italian full-back Davide Santon has vowed that the Toon will attack.

He said: "Last year we lost there, and so we know that Everton are a good team.

"But we will go to Everton not for a draw, not for a loss, but for a win. We will be positive."
