A Labour MP was suspended from the Commons yesterday for accusing defence ministers of lying about how British troops were in Afghanistan to protect our national security.
Paul Flynn refused repeated requests from Speaker John Bercow to withdraw his remarks and was kicked out of the Commons during urgent questions to Defence Secretary Philip Hammond on Britain's strategy in Afghanistan.
"I think there has been a long running deception, repeated today, yesterday and last Thursday, is there is a risk from terrorism in this country and that is worth risking lives for. That's the big lie," Mr Flynn said.
Official inflation figures understate the real extent of rising costs, but even the government's own CPI scheme lays bare the ongoing misery for working people and those dependent on benefits.
