I was amazed at the ease shown by the PM when talking about deregulation immediately before his statement on the Hillsborough disaster.
None of the other MPs commented on this striking change of tack by David Cameron.
The connection between poor safety standards and the Hillsborough disaster is now well documented. Mr Cameron's response to Mr Brennan's question, asking him to reflect on this subject, was brushed off by the wrong and untruthful idea that small businesses and football grounds are subject to the same tests.
Utter rubbish, yet a deliberate attempt to downplay the vital role of health and safety which brought this country out of the dark ages when childhood slavery and workplace fatalities were commonplace.
At the time of the Hillsborough disaster we were under a prime minister who thought - as David Cameron does - that deregulation was best.
Downplayed and unnoticed by anyone was the lack of a safety certificate. We all know what happened next.
