Sainsbury's hires robber

Monday 01 October 2012

A shoplifter banned from every Sainsbury's in Britain has got himself a job - in the same shop he stole from.

Ipswich man Vishal Patel, 24, was given an eight-week suspended jail sentence last May after nicking a bottle of Jack Daniels from the chain's Warren Heath branch.

Sainbury's later banned him from all of its shops and petrol stations.

But it turns out the same shop that he robbed has just hired him.

A Sainsbury's spokesman said Mr Patel hadn't told them about his conviction, which came up during a training day.

Mr Patel told the Ipswich Star: "All I wanted was a chance. I won't ever steal again."
