Eco-activist 'Frackman' marches on London

EmailA Lancashire man began a long march from Blackpool Tower to Downing Street today in a bid to stop the shale gas "fracking" industry - having changed his name to Frackman by deed poll for the occasion.
Mr Frackman, best known under his pervious name Gayzer Tarjanyi, said he hoped to hand over his petition in person.
The 51-year-old said he planned to detour to as many fracking sites as possible but would depend on the kindness of strangers for a warm bed.
Despite the uncertain nature of his journey, Mr Frackman said the hazards of fracking itself were far riskier: "The most important issue we face is the lack of an effective regulatory system and we are calling for a moratorium until proper regulation is in place, and the global evidence of the risks involved can be properly assessed.
"We want the government to act now to ensure people's health and the environment are protected before it is too late."
He expects to arrive at Downing Street on October 20.
