Hit And Run (15)

Directed by Dax Shepard
Thursday 11 October 2012

Part rom-com, part road trip, Hit And Run surpasses expectations with its action-packed '70s-style car chases and slapstick mayhem.

It revolves around former getaway driver Charlie Bronson (Dax Shepard) who decides to leave witness "protection" to drive his girlfriend Annie (Kristen Bell) - who has a doctorate in non-violent conflict resolution - to a job interview in Los Angeles.

The pair are pursued by all and sundry including Bronson's former gang, led by a hilarious but unrecognisable Bradley Cooper in dreadlocks.

Co-directed, written by and starring Shepard, this is one wacky ride with some great visual gags and a hysterical use of an iPhone app.

The funniest moments spring from Bronson's sparring with Annie as she discovers who he really is and what he has done and the ridiculous exchanges are a continuous source of fun.
