Palestine activists target 'ugly' beauty trade show

EmailPalestine solidarity activists from across northern England joined forces today to expose the ugly side of a beauty trade show in Manchester.
Activists from Manchester, Sheffield and Halifax picketed and leafleted trade show Professional Beauty (PB) calling on organisers to kick out cosmetics firm Ahava, which is accused of illegally exploiting natural resources in the occupied West Bank.
The Palestine Solidarity Campaign action was backed by the Stolen Beauty campaign and Who Profits from the Occupation.
Staff on the Ahava stand - flanked by two security guards - claimed their products "came from the Dead Sea in Israel."
Protesters managed to force the closure of Ahava's flagship London store in 2011 and John Lewis has ceased stocking the range, leaving PB as the main vehicle for Ahava products in Britain.
Activists have pledged to target PB's main trade fair in London next February.
