Well, considering that I am 87 years old it probably would be.
However, having worked for Labour in every general election since 1945 and most local elections in one capacity or another, I could probably teach him a thing or two on how to go about winning support on the doorstep.
Furthermore, having had actual experience of the construction industry and recruiting workers in areas of chronic unemployment, low wages and anti-union employers who would sack a worker if they learned he or she had joined a union, I might also be able to teach him something of the difficulties which that area can involve.
What Roger calls "political discipline" is no substitute for worker solidarity and comradeship based upon trust, common purpose and mutual respect.
I am proud of "my ilk" and he is not so far removed as he might think - we might disagree on how we get there but there would be little difference between us in the definition of the socialist objective.
