Traveller rights activists were "terrified" today after police threatened to let attack dogs loose on a protest outside government offices in Whitehall.
Around 200 activists chanted and sang outide the Department of Communities and Local Government in Whitehall as others scaled the building's canopy, unfurling flags and a banner reading "End All Evictions."
The crowd included families from Dale Farm - the Crays Hill community in Essex, evicted a year ago today in a violent police operation.
A government guided by common sense would respond to news that publicly owned Royal Mail has increased profits to £403 million by scrapping plans to flog off the service.
