TUC issue new edition of workers' rights book

Tuesday 23 October 2012

The Trades Union Congress has issued an updated manual on workers' rights to equip people attack from the government under the guise of "reducing red tape".

The new edition of Your Rights at Work is described as "a comprehensive, jargon-free guide to workplace rights and employer responsibilities providing all the information a worker or union representative needs."

"Every worker should know what their current rights are and how unions can help defend them," said the TUC.

The guide is written by TUC employment experts and has been updated by lawyers in its fourth edition.

It covers issues such as maternity rights, contracts of employment, working time, parental leave, equality, flexible working, agency working, time off for training, health and safety, and grievance procedures.
