Alan Pardew joins Martin O’Neill in slamming chants

Wednesday 24 October 2012

Football: Newcastle boss Alan Pardew followed Sunderland boss Martin O’Neill in criticising tasteless chants during Sunday’s Wear-Tyne derby.

Some Sunderland supporters targeted Steven Taylor while a section of the Toon contingent referred to Jimmy Savile in connection with Lee Cattermole.

Neither manager heard the chants at the time but O’Neill spoke out and has now been joined by Pardew, who said it was “not acceptable.”
